How to create social media carousels from inside ChatGPT
OpenAI adopted the Model Context Protocol in March 2025, which means ChatGPT can call outside tools the same way Claude does. Zynta Flow runs a remote MCP server, so you can ask ChatGPT for a carousel and have it land in your Zynta Flow account, on brand, ready to schedule.
The setup is a little more hidden than in Claude, and there are some real quirks. Both are covered below.
What you need first
ChatGPT adds outside tools as custom MCP servers, and that has requirements:
- Business or Enterprise/Edu for full MCP, which lets the assistant create content. The OpenAI Help Center lists only these plans for full MCP, on ChatGPT web (checked on October 18, 2026).
- Pro connects custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions only, which is not enough to generate a carousel. OpenAI does not list Plus.
- On Business, only admins and owners can create and publish custom apps. If you are on a company account and the option is missing, that is usually why.
- ChatGPT supports remote servers only, meaning an HTTPS endpoint. It does not run local
stdioservers, the kind Claude Desktop and Cursor can launch on your laptop.
Zynta Flow is a remote server on Streamable HTTP with OAuth, which is exactly what ChatGPT supports.
Connecting it
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server.
- Under Connection, paste the server URL and choose OAuth:
https://app.zyntaflow.com/mcp
- Confirm the notice about custom servers and click Create as a plugin. Zynta Flow publishes its own discovery metadata, so ChatGPT registers itself. There is no key to create and no client secret to paste.
- Install the plugin, sign in to Zynta Flow when the window opens and click Approve on the Zynta Flow consent screen.
Once connected, open a new chat and pick Zynta Flow from the plugins menu, or just mention it, and every tool the server exposes is available.
Quirks worth knowing
This is where being honest is more useful than being enthusiastic. Developers have reported, through 2026:
- Custom apps intermittently disappearing from ChatGPT's list.
- OAuth completing successfully while the plugin does not show up in chat. This has been reproduced with official servers, including Stripe's, so it is not specific to us.
- The same MCP server generally behaving more reliably in Claude than in ChatGPT.
If a connection looks stuck, start a new chat first; if that does not help, removing the plugin and adding it again is the usual fix. If you want the smoother experience today, Claude is the better client, and we wrote that guide too. None of this is a reason to avoid ChatGPT, just a reason not to be surprised.
What you can ask for
Take this brief and make a 6 slide carousel in the EPIC brand kit, write the caption, and put it on the calendar for Tuesday 6pm.
Behind that, the assistant can:
- Generate a carousel from a brief, or a single image post
- Adjust slide layouts, attach your images or pull from Unsplash
- Write the caption in the brand voice
- Read, create and update brand kits
- Create and update calendar entries
- List, create and update Instagram automations: comment-to-DM rules and multi-step flows on a connected account
- List drafts, presets and connected accounts
- Pull post analytics
It does not publish directly. When it schedules a post, Zynta Flow publishes it at that time unless you change it in the calendar first, and a brand kit can require client approval before anything goes out.
What it costs
MCP is included on every plan, the 7-day trial included. Actions spend credits from your normal balance at the normal rate: 20 to 45 for a carousel depending on slide count, 10 for a caption, 5 per post per network to publish. Reading brands, drafts and analytics costs nothing.
An assistant on an empty balance gets told there are insufficient credits, the same answer you would get. It cannot spend anything you have not already put in the account.
Try it
300 credits for 7 days, a card is required but nothing is charged today. Start the trial, or see the MCP setup page for the token path if your client cannot do OAuth.
Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT connect to Zynta Flow?
Yes. Zynta Flow runs a remote MCP server at https://app.zyntaflow.com/mcp, and ChatGPT can add it as a custom MCP server from Plugins. You sign in to Zynta Flow with OAuth and click Approve, so there is no API key or client secret to paste.
Which ChatGPT plans support custom MCP servers?
Full MCP, which Zynta Flow needs to create carousels, is available on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu, on the web. Pro connects custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions only, and OpenAI does not list Plus (OpenAI Help Center, checked on October 18, 2026). ChatGPT only connects to remote servers over HTTPS, which is what Zynta Flow is.
Can ChatGPT post to Instagram or LinkedIn for me through Zynta Flow?
Not directly. ChatGPT can create the carousel and schedule it as a calendar entry, and Zynta Flow publishes that entry at the scheduled time unless you change it first. A brand kit can require client approval before anything goes out.
How many credits does a carousel made in ChatGPT use?
The same as in the Zynta Flow app: 20 to 45 credits for an AI carousel depending on slide count (30 for five slides), 10 for a caption and 5 per post per network to publish. If the balance is empty, the assistant gets an insufficient credits answer.
What should I do if the Zynta Flow plugin does not appear in ChatGPT?
Start a new chat first. If it is still missing, remove the plugin and add it again, which is the usual fix when OAuth completes but the plugin does not show up. Also check that you used the full server address, https://app.zyntaflow.com/mcp.
Put this into practice
Zynta Flow turns a topic into a finished, on-brand carousel in minutes. Try it for 7 days with 300 credits.
