How to create social media carousels from inside ChatGPT

OpenAI adopted the Model Context Protocol in March 2025, which means ChatGPT can call outside tools the same way Claude does. Zynta Flow runs a remote MCP server, so you can ask ChatGPT for a carousel and have it land in your Zynta Flow account, on brand, ready to schedule.

The setup is a little more hidden than in Claude, and there are some real quirks. Both are covered below.

What you need first

ChatGPT's custom MCP connectors live behind Developer Mode, and that has requirements:

• Plus or Pro for individual accounts.
• Business, Enterprise or Edu workspaces have it too, but an admin can switch Developer Mode off for the whole org or allow only specific connectors. If you are on a company account and the option is missing, that is usually why.
• ChatGPT supports remote servers only, meaning an HTTPS endpoint. It does not run local stdio servers, the kind Claude Desktop and Cursor can launch on your laptop.

Zynta Flow is a remote server on Streamable HTTP with OAuth, which is exactly what ChatGPT supports.

Connecting it

1. Turn on Developer Mode in your ChatGPT settings.
2. Add a custom connector and paste the server URL:

3. Leave the authentication as OAuth. Zynta Flow publishes its own discovery metadata, so the client registers itself. There is no key to create and no client secret to paste.
4. Sign in to Zynta Flow when the window opens and approve access.

Once connected, every tool the server exposes becomes available in your conversations, subject to whatever confirmation settings you chose.

Quirks worth knowing

This is where being honest is more useful than being enthusiastic. Developers have reported, through 2026:

• Custom apps intermittently disappearing from the connector directory.
• OAuth completing successfully while the connector does not show up in chat. This has been reproduced with official servers, including Stripe's, so it is not specific to us.
• The same MCP server generally behaving more reliably in Claude than in ChatGPT.

If a connection looks stuck, removing and re-adding the connector is the usual fix. If you want the smoother experience today, Claude is the better client, and we wrote that guide too. None of this is a reason to avoid ChatGPT, just a reason not to be surprised.

What you can ask for

Take this brief and make a 6 slide carousel in the EPIC brand kit, write the caption, and put it on the calendar for Tuesday 6pm.

Behind that, the assistant can:

• Generate a carousel from a brief, or a single image post
• Adjust slide layouts, attach your images or pull from Unsplash
• Write the caption in the brand voice
• Read, create and update brand kits
• Create and update calendar entries
• List drafts, presets and connected accounts
• Pull post analytics

It does not publish by itself. Scheduling creates a calendar entry you can review and change. We did not build a path where an assistant posts to your audience with no human in between.

What it costs

MCP is included on every plan, the free trial included. Actions spend credits from your normal balance at the normal rate: 20 to 45 for a carousel depending on slide count, 10 for a caption, 5 per post per network to publish. Reading brands, drafts and analytics costs nothing.

An assistant on an empty balance gets told there are insufficient credits, the same answer you would get. It cannot spend anything you have not already put in the account.
